CO2 - Global Warming

Sales of MG 'Z' cars have confirmed that the new product is what the customer wants, particularly with respect to performance and handling. This move up the scale of performance cars, to provide the same customer choice as our competitors, could be considered contradictory to a proactive environmental policy. However, despite this richer mix of performance cars, MG Rover has still striven to meet its commitments to the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA) voluntary target of a 25% reduction. That is, to achieve by 2008 an average CO2 emission of 140g/km across all vehicles produced by European manufacturers.

Due to the enduring efficiency of the 'K' Series engine, and the increasing customer trend to our frugal 'L' series diesel engines, MG Rover is still contributing to the overall improvements towards the CO2 target. Matching Company car tax CO2 incentives with smaller engine options on large cars, and return to the small car sector with the CityRover will also contribute to this end, as will availability of approved 3rd party conversions of certain Rover 45 and 75 derivatives to Liquified Petroleum Gas(LPG).
