Cars registered from 1st March 2001 will be subject to a new system
for defining the Vehicle Excise Duty ('Car Tax') that is applicable
to that car. This scheme has been introduced by the Government to
enable consumers to benefit from purchasing more fuel efficient
cars i.e. the more fuel efficient the car the less Vehicle Excise
Duty payable.
All registrations are still subject to the Government First
Registration Fee of 38GBP.
