Part of the key to managing and maintaining a
good environmental performance is to ensure that there is clear,
effective and a continuous communication.
This needs to be both from the top-down and
from the bottom-up. Good communication needs to engage everyone
from the shopfloor to the boardroom.
We use various methods to get the message
across including team talks, newsletters and mail-shots to remind
our employees of their responsibilities to the environment, and
explain how the business is moving forward.
MG Rover Group has an "Environmental Policy"
statement that was issued to all our managers, along with a 4-page
brief that explained more about their role and responsibilities
towards the environment. Managers then cascaded this
information to the employees in their functions and
departments.
